Student identities and document content are encrypted before they enter our database. We use AES-256-GCM encryption, with keys protected by AWS Key Management Service. Someone with a copy of the database could not simply open it and read your students' records.
Access is tied to your organisation and each member's permissions. These restrictions are checked by the application and enforced again by the database. Administrators must use two-factor authentication, and you can require it for all staff.
We keep audit records so actions can be traced when your organisation needs to investigate what happened. Student names, document content and raw AI prompts are excluded from application logs.
When you use AI to draft a document, information supplied for that task is processed by Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service. That can include sensitive student information. Our AI processing uses EU data residency, Microsoft's data processing agreement and a no-content-logging exemption.
